British woman, 97, extends record as oldest female wing walker
Betty Bromage completed another biplane wing walk on Aug. 4, about a year after suffering a stroke, while raising funds for her hospital.
A 97-year-old British woman has extended her record as the world's oldest female wing walker, according to reports on her Aug. 4 flight.
Betty Bromage completed her sixth wing walk while secured to the upper wing of a biplane. She first took part in the activity at age 87. Guinness World Records previously verified her female age record in 2022, when she was 93 years and 145 days old.
The latest attempt came roughly a year after Bromage suffered a stroke in 2025. She used the flight to raise money for Cheltenham General Hospital, where she had received treatment.
Bromage is not the oldest wing walker regardless of sex. Guinness said in May that Harry Heasman, 98, had set the male age record. Her achievement is the record in the female category.
