Colorado fans rushed the field at Folsom Field in Boulder on Saturday after the Buffaloes beat Kansas State in overtime, their first conference win in more than a year. The victory snapped a five-game losing streak and lifted the team to 4-4 on the season, and many of the fans who poured onto the turf were dressed in Halloween costumes.

Colorado entered the game 2-5 and at the bottom of the Big 12 standings. The team had not won a conference game since Oct. 11, 2025, and had dropped five straight after a strong start to the year. The game was tied at 21 after four quarters, forcing an extra period. Kansas State kicked a field goal in overtime to take a three-point lead, which meant Colorado needed a touchdown on its possession to win. The result was a win that many in the stadium had been waiting months to see, and the moment carried added weight for a program that had struggled to find consistency.

On third-and-9, quarterback Isaac Wilson pulled the ball back on a run-pass option and threw into the end zone. Tight end Charlie Williams caught the pass and walked in for an 11-yard touchdown, his only catch of the game. The score gave Colorado the win and sent the home crowd into celebration.

As head coach Deion Sanders went to shake hands with the Kansas State staff, fans hopped over the wall and stormed the field. Fans had appeared ready to rush the field in regulation, but Kansas State's touchdown with two seconds left in the fourth quarter had tied the game and kept them behind the barrier. Once the overtime win was secured, the crowd was free to celebrate, and fans tore down the goalposts, a customary tradition following a home victory.

The win matches Colorado's total from last season, the fourth year of the Sanders era. Still, Sanders has been mentioned among coaches on the hot seat, and the modest milestone falls short of what the program had envisioned. The Buffaloes have four games left and need three more wins to become bowl-eligible. If they reach that mark, the outlook for the coach could improve; if not, the questions around his position are likely to intensify. Colorado has struggled to regain its form since several key players, including quarterback Shedeur Sanders and Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter, departed for the NFL.

Next week, Colorado plays Arizona State, followed by games against Houston, Cincinnati and UCF to close the season. The Buffaloes will look to build a winning streak over that stretch. Kansas State, which fell to 1-4 in Big 12 play, has also struggled in conference games this season, and the loss leaves the Wildcats searching for their own momentum as the year winds down.
